SIA Regular Online Meditation Practices

Our regular meditation practices will continue to be offered online due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions as well as the enthusiasm with which they have been embraced.
Meditation is the basis of all Buddhist practices. From the time of the Buddha until today, countless men and women have practised meditation and personally discovered the innate goodness or pure nature the Buddha sought to show us. The meditation techniques of shamata and vipashyana offer a practical method for awakening to the peace and clarity of our true nature. By breaking through the circle of our self-absorbed distraction and connecting with the open space of insight, qualities such as strength, wisdom and compassion naturally dawn.
The meditation practices are:
DAILY 20 minute Morning Meditation - 7.00am
This 20 minute meditation is being offered by SIA Instructors and/or other experienced practice hosts seven days a week from 7.00-7.30 am. The regular hosts are currently Steve Cline, Jakob Leschly, Zangmo McDermott and Sarah Wilkinson. Anyone is welcome to join, although since there is little to no guidance, beginners to Buddhism who are interested to learn more about the underpinnings of Buddhist meditation practice may be interested in joining the Saturday and Monday practices shared here as well.

Monday Study and Practice with Jakob Leschly
EVERY MONDAY 5:00-7.30 pm

Saturday Shamata/Vipashyana Practice hosted by Bridget Gebbie
EVERY SATURDAY – 3.00-4.00 pm
This one hour guided shamata/ vipashyana meditation practice helps us to go more deeply into the practice of meditation, with the support of a group. Readings from texts about the techniques and benefits of meditation are sometimes incorporated into the practice as a support and reminder.
