Sunday Buddhist Studies with Jakob Leschly

Starting January 20th 2019. Every Sunday 5:30-6.30pm AEDT

Finding Rest in the Nature of Mind
the trilogy of rest, volume 1

The spotless dharmakāya, luminous and clear,
Is the buddha nature of all beings,
Yet through their ignorance and clinging,
They wander in the cycle of existence.
In the wilderness of karma and defilement
They stray in weariness.
Today I will bring rest to their exhausted minds.

"Rest is what we lack most. Even more agonizing is that we don't know how to do it; in fact, we don't even understand what it means to rest. Who but Longchenpa can and will make absolutely sure that we finally understand what rest is." Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche.

"This sacred volume embodies the entire Buddhist path - from how to inspire our wild mind toward the Dharma to how to fulfill the needs of all by awakening the nature of the mind, innate Buddhahood, as it is." Tulku Thondup.

This study presumes familiarity with classical Buddhist themes such as karma, rebirth, and the possibility of enlightenment through the practice of the path. The webinars are held under the auspices of Tibetan Buddhist master Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche with Jakob Leschly as instructor. Jakob has served Siddhartha’s Intent since 1993.

"This dependent arising is the dharmakāya of all the tathāgatas", The Buddha.

We will look at some of the conditions in Tibet, which for over 1200 years have supported the success of the applied science of awakening.

Wednesday Vajrayana Study with Jakob Leschly

Starting 9 January  2019. Every Wednesday 9-10 am AEDT

Steps to the Great Perfection
Jigme Lingpa

We will begin study of Jigme Lingpa’s Steps to the Great Perfection which presents the Seven Mind-trainings according to the Great Perfection. Jigme Lingpa’s work is based on the Sole Offspring Tantra and the short commentaries by Garab Dorje and Longchen Rabjam. These seven ways of training the mind are part of the Chetsun Nyingtik ngöndro, but the content is basic to all the Dzogchen teachings, including the Longchen Nyingtik, as well as all the practice lineage traditions. You can find this work where these teachings are compiled and excellently translated into English by Cortland Dahl here.

These studies are relevant not only for Ngöndro Gar practitioners, but also for all Vajrayana practitioners. All texts are studied in English translation.
