Foundations of Samadhi

Without a foundation of samadhi or meditation, the many skilful methods of the Buddhist path will do little to transform our being. All Buddhist meditation is founded on the skilful practice of shamatha, that grounds us in our immediate reality; and the wisdom of vipashyana, that takes us beyond our habitual mind and opens us to the greater experience of awakening.

The Foundations of Samadhi programs will run as week-long retreats - düntüns or literally seven-day sessions, starting on Saturdays, and ending a week later. The practice will be sitting meditation, combining shamatha and vipashyana as taught in the Tibetan Nyingma and Kagyu traditions.

The retreat is held under the auspices of Tibetan Buddhist master Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche with Jakob Leschly as his resident instructor.
