Melbourne seminars: Delusion of Ego; Nature of Reality; Pure Perception
Seminars with Jakob Leschly
Friday 8 March 6.30-8pm
- Seeing Through the Delusion of Ego (Public talk)
It is an open secret that we are happier when we are less self-centred and unhappier the more we are self-centred. But if we look closely, our "self" is a really not something solid at all; it changes all the time. It is essentially our confused assumptions and habits that drive centring around a mistaken view of the self and ego. The Buddhist teaching provides a clear map and path out of this confusion.
Saturday 9 March 10am-4pm
- Seeing the Nature of Reality (Seminar)
In approaching enlightenment, our perspective needs to be free from acquired bias and dogmas, as well the habitual ignorance that drives our confusion and suffering. Based on a short text by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo that brilliantly sums up the Middle Way or Madhyamaka teachings. For anyone wishing to understand the radical view of Buddhism, and essential for any practicing the path.
Sunday 10 March 10am-4pm
- The Science of Pure Perception (Seminar)
Throughout Tibetan Buddhism we find the Vajrayana practice of deity, mantra, and mandala. While we might have faith in these practices, understanding the logic of these methods will provide much greater certainty and joy in the training of pure perception. We will look at the logical reasoning that is the foundation of this greater and more accurate perspective. This study will be based on texts by great sages such as Rongzom Pandita, Longchenpa and Jamgon Mipham.
